The film is highly heart throbbing, but soul stirring at the same time.
Applaud to the director Sanjeev Vig for his mystery building skills. The promising performance of the ever versatile actor Naseeruddin Shah works in harmony with the brilliant plot. The movie is a masterpiece! The fragile plot takes a turn sharper than a knife that will leave you completely baffled. The movie commences with a casual family dinner. But with the “Rogan josh” being served that night on the dinner table, there’s also a lot of steamy secrets and regrets being served at the side. The built up suspense is only broken down towards the end of the film. The clever plot aims at leaving hints that one needs to watch out for. SPOILER ALERT: The twist of the film is aimed at reviving the aftermath of the 26/11 tragedy which will take you completely by surprise.
NIL BATTEY SANNATA:
This heartwarming film directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari was released internationally as “The New Classmates”. The film entirely revolves around the lives of Chanda , a school dropout who works as a housemaid, and her daughter Apeksha, who seems to be extremely unambitious and arrogant. Chanda has big dreams for her little girl and wants to see her lead a better life. Chanda works multiple jobs to suffice the needs of herself and her daughter and provides her with education, despite all the hardships. While on the contrary, Apeksha is extremely ungrateful and doesn’t wish to make anything successful out of herself. The film contains lighthearted humor and highlights a message that “The right to dream big is for everybody irrespective of their caste, class, status, gender, etc.
Ahalya is a 2015 Bengali short film with English subtitles directed by Sujoy Ghosh with Soumitra Chatterjee, Radhika Apte and Tota Roy Chowdhury playing the lead roles. The movie makes it’s way to the list because of it’s unprecedented story line. Again, One of the most well crafted films with a dynamic twist in the plot. The idiosyncratic content speaks volumes about the quality of the film. The stunning beauty Radhika Apte’s performance in the film is highly admirable.
The ordinary life of an ordinary man Rajesh Bauji changes when he decides that he will deny from believing anything that he himself has not seen or experienced. The movie is a life changer and evokes a strong wave of complete consciousness in a person. The theme of the plot ” Sab Kuch Yahin Hai, Ankhain Khol Kar Dekho” narrates the idea of experiencing and then believing and then finding your own truth, instead of conceiving everybody else’s truth as your own truth. Sanjay Mishra’s sensational performance has left the audience mesmerized . The movie is a MUST WATCH!!
Masaan is a 2015 drama film directed by Neeraj Ghaywan. The directorial debut film is an Indo-French co-production and won two awards in the Cannes Film Festival. The movie narrates two divergent stories simultaneously which have a meeting point at the very end. The interesting script is promised to keep you transfixed. Niti shastra makes it’s way on the list because of the noble message it gives out. The movie aims at highlighting the importance of self defense. Taapsee Pannu’s intriguing performance and a simple yet hard hitting plot of the film make it a must watch. It emphasizes on the fact that girls shouldn’t be caged from venturing out alone instead they should be taught to defend themselves from the vultures of the patriarchal society.
Chutney to be described in one word is “spicy”. The plot is as spicy as the name of the film. It’s contentious story line will keep you guessing till the very end. Tisca chopra is seen playing the role of a very simple, innocent lady who doesn’t merge along with the modern group of ladies, the “know-it-all” types. But eventually the movie unfolds to expose off the real colors of this saintly housewife. The climax is promised to hit you like the spicy chilly in the Indian chutney.
Interior Cafe Night starring the legendary Naseeruddin Shah is a 13 minutes short film that will make you believe that life always gives you a second chance. The interesting narration of the reunion of two lovers who had part ways 30 years ago is sure to make you reach out to grab your tissue boxes. The movie is extremely straight forward yet prepossessing.
The movie deals with the prejudices that men have towards women. How it’s very easy for the patriarchal society to tag a woman as “Characterless” without digging into their own dens of shallowness and egoism. The film is the romanticization of revenge – the urge to exploit India’s unsubtle class-divide and satiate the viewers’ blood-lust – that hijacks the film.
