Premier League table-toppers Liverpool will give a visit to Manchester to play the defending Champions Man City at Etihad Stadium on January 4 in the new year. The football match predictions for City vs Liverpool are as followed:-
Jurgen Klopp’s side is leading the league table by 54 points, 7 ahead of the Blues who are sitting on 3rd place with 47 points. City has lost 3 of their last 5 Premier League matches, they lost Chelsea(2-0), Crystal Palace(3-2) and Leicester City(2-1) on the boxing day.
Liverpool continued their winning streak as they thrashed Newcastle with 4-0 and Arsenal by 5-1. City will surely look to win over the Reds as they could not make a win at Anfield where Riyad Mahrez missed the 85th-minute Penalty and dropped the chance of taking 3 crucial points at that stage. The match however ended as a goalless draw.
In spite of being on top of the table, the Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp feels the race will go on till the final day. The former German player quoted “The only thing that matters to us is the performance and keeping that level of performance. It’s good but that’s all. Tottenham are flying – they had a difficult summer but they are doing brilliant.” speaking after Boxing Day matches he also added “We are on a good run as well. Chelsea will win, Arsenal will win – it will be a race until the final day.” So according to Klopp’s statement, he is not going to take City easily and will make Liverpool will be tougher than their current form.
Pep Guardiola stood for his players in the pre-match conference stating “Why should I not believe these players after what we’ve done in the last 15 or 16 months? They are absolutely heroes for me. I am always close to them and I will be for the rest of my period and our period together, the City boss also added that “nothing is going to change even if we lose more and more games.”
Guardiola will have to opt between Zinchenko or Danilo for the left-back slot. For the Mid-fielder
Position, if Kevin De Bruyne is fit enough to play he will come back or else Bernardo Silva will continue to play alongside David Silva and Fernandinho in the midfield. The front forward may go with Rahim Sterling, Sergio Aguero and a choice will have to be made between German player Leroy Sane and Algerian Riyad Mahrez.
What Playing XI of City can be:-
An ideal Liverpool lineup would feature a smart blend of attacking capability and defensive prowess. They must blend aggression and caution, as ever when facing a world-class club, especially away from Anfield.
Virgil Van Dijk has just become an absolute certainty at centre-half for Klopp. He can confidently cut down nearly any attack and can even drive play forward. His addition has truly been a revelation for the Reds, as they would not be where they currently are without him.
Jordan Henderson did not start against Arsenal because Georgino Wijnaldum got the nod. As much as the captain’s place in the side looks in jeopardy his omission at the weekend is likely intentional to ensure that he is well rested for this important game.
Wijnaldum has been a regular for Klopp in ‘big games’ but the emergence of Fabinho may allow him to rest the Dutchman if he opts for a more attacking midfield three.
Fabinho best works in a midfield two and if James Milner is fit it is possible Fabinho may not be in there. However, without Milner, Henderson and Fabinho will form the midfield two with three attackers playing the attacking roles behind a lone striker. The front 3 are as always shining and there is no doubt to replace them unless injured.
