Pakistan’s right-arm legbreaker Yasir Shah has achieved a world new record as he becomes the quickest bowler to pick 200 wickets in test cricket. In the ongoing 3rd test match between Pakistan and New Zealand, Yasir Shah trapped the Kiwi debutant William Somerville for a leg before wicket (LBW) as his 200th test wicket in just 33 matches.
The 32-year old wrist-spinner broke the 82-year record set by Clarrie Grimmett of Australia who had taken 200 wickets in 36 matches way back in 1936. He also surpassed Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who earned the mark against the same opponent back in September 2016 in 37 matches.
Shah debuted against Australia back in 2015 and his first two wickets were Steven Smith and David Warner. In his career, he has dismissed Smith for 6 number of occasions.
New Zealand’s senior-most player Ross Taylor has been Yasir ’s most victim of dismissal, that is 7 times in which thrice in this series itself. Shah has bowled excellent in this series and is leading the wicket-takers board with 27 wickets so far.
