The Proteas were too excited to enjoy the last days of the 2018 year that they just wrapped the 1st test in 3 days beating Pakistan by 6 wickets and takes a 1-0 lead the 3-match test series. The match predictions for next match is based on following.
Duanne Olivier was awarded as the man of the match for his classic performance with the ball as he destroyed Pakistan’s batting line up in both the innings with figures of 6/37 and 5/59 respectively. The 26-year-old was called as a replacement for all-rounder Vernon Philander who is recovering from a thumb injury and Olivier proved the selector’s decision very right by selecting him.
South Africa’s spearhead Dale Steyn sent back Pakistan’s opener Fakhar Zaman back to the Pavilion for just 12 runs as he claimed Zaman as his 422nd wicket surpassing his former teammate Shaun Pollock who held the record off 421 wickets which were most by any South African player for over a decade and now Steyn will continue to hold it at least for the next 5 years.
Sarfraz won the toss and decided to bat first but his team could not put a huge score on the board as the entire team was sent to pavilion in just 47 overs with 181 runs on the board. South Africa also lost 5 wickets at the end of Day 1 with 54 runs behind Pakistan. The lower middle-order helped them to take a 42-run lead in the first innings.
Pakistan were again all out on Day 2 for a total of 190, that also with Shan Masood’s handful knock of 65 runs which included 7 fours and a sixer. Pakistan set a target of 149 to defend against the Hosts. Day 3 saw a successful chase by South Africans as half-centuries by Dean Elgar(50) and Hashim Amla(63*) helped to win the Boxing Day Test.
The next test will be played at Newlands in Capetown on January 3, the question that has risen is about Pakistan’s batting as they could not cross 200 also in both the innings and were twice all out in two consecutive days.
Babar Azam stood for them in the 1st innings, attacking the South African pacers especially targeted Dale Steyn as he scored 71 off 79 deliveries with 15 boundaries where 10 were hitten off Steyn’s bowling. Azam was helpless as wickets kept loosing from the other hand.
Pakistan will have to overcome up with their batting strength.
The match prediction for the 2nd test will be favoured in South Africa’s favour as with a lead of 1-0 they will continue to dominate their winning streak at home, Pakistan will look to give a tough fight as we can see their pace bowling unit comprised of Mohammad Amir Hasan Ali and Shaheen Afridi who played their immense part in removing wickets without not giving a big lead. Our match predictions are South Africa will go on with 2-0.
