India continued its dominance after defeating rivals Australia in the ODI series after the 7-wickets win in the final ODI at MCG. The match summary of the series is India lost the opening match by 34 runs at SCG and then bounced back with a 6-wicket win at Adelaide Oval to level t he series by 1-1 and then finally wrapped up the series by 2-1 at MCG.
It all started with winning a crucial toss by Virat Kohli and decided to chase the target in the second innings where Yuzvendra Chahal who was brought in place of Kuldeep Yadav starred in the match by sending the majority team back to the pavilion as he ended by picking six wickets and conceded 42 runs. Chahal won the Man of the Match award.
India had to make 231 runs to lift the series, and so MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav went on to attack the Australian bowlers and finished the game in the final over, they also hold their 4th wicket stand for 121 runs where MSD made 87* and Jadhav 61*.
MS Dhoni made three fifties in 3 innings and finished as the man of the series. It looks like India will not face the longtime problem of their No 4 batting position, and MS Dhoni can be favoured to continue with that spot, the New Zealand series will be another test for team India and Dhoni to secure his temporary position. Shubman Gill will join the squad as a backup batsman for New Zealand series.
India will fly towards the neighbourhood of Australia, i.e. to face the Black Caps in New Zealand and it is going to be their last overseas tour before the World Cup. There will be more challenges as New Zealand will be playing with their regular squad and have experienced bowlers who can come in any time and make trouble for the Indian batsmen.
The New Zealand tour begins from January 23 onwards with 5 ODI’s and 3 T20’s to play.
