“We live in a society that teaches- Don’t Get Raped. Instead of- Don’t Rape”. Rape, Public Defecation and Sanitation, etc. were, oops sorry, ARE social problems that nobody is willing to talk about. Everybody, even the government, turn a blind eye to these evident problems. Open defecation is not only an environmental problem, but also encourages the rape culture. “MERE PYARE PRIME MINISTER” is an upcoming Bollywood drama with a pinch of comedy, and a very strong message for it’s Indian audience.
PLOT: The story revolves around the single mother Sargam and her son Kanhaiya who have a message to be conveyed to the Prime Minister of India. In the “Metropolitan”City of Mumbai, right next to the International Airport, lies a slum called Gandhi Nagar. Named after the father of the nation, who believed in “cleanliness before godliness”, the dwelling has no toilets at all.
The women have to defecate in dark isolated areas of the slum because of the absence of public lavatory. Sargam is one of the women of the slum and also a rape victim who’s school-going son, Kanhu decides to step up and acknowledge the need of toilets in the locality.
